The particulars of its Organization, Functions And Duties -

Name of the Office- Jharkhand State Information Commission
(Hereinafter referred to as 'the Commission' or 'the State Commission')

Address- Engineers Hostel No.-2, HEC Campus, Near Golchakkar, Dhurwa, Ranchi-834004, Jharkhand

Functions: Jharkhand State Information Commission (Herein after referred to as 'the Commission') has been constituted under Section 15(1) of the Right to Information Act. 2005 (Act 22 of 2005) (Hereinafter referred to as 'the Act') vide Jharkhand Gazette Notification No. 3825 dated 24.07.2006. The State Commission's mandate is to exercise the powers conferred on, and to perform the functions assigned to it under the Act, viz; to hear Complaint of the appellant under Section 18(1) and Second Appeal of the appellant under Section 19(3) of the Right to Information Act 2005 who have not been provided informations as desired within stipulated period.

Organization :

Section 15(4) of the RTI Act, 2005 stipulates that the general superintendence, direction and management of the affairs of the State Information Commission shall vest in the State Chief Information Commissioner who shall be assisted by the State Information Commissioners and may exercise all such powers and does all such acts and things which may be exercised or done by the State Information Commission autonomously without being subjected to directions by any other authority under Act.
The officers and employees to the Commission are provided by the State Government under Sub-section 6 of Section 16 of the Act and they get such salaries and allowances as prescribed by the State Government.

The Jhakhand State Information Commission consists of:-
